Dermal filler correction

Posted on 5th June 2017

This Client came in to us after previously being injected with filler without consideration of her natural lip anatomy. The client was left with over filled, unsymmetrical, lumpy lips! Dr Jeremy Isaac used 0.5ml to balance and correct. Work in progress!

Dermal Filler Correction

Has your filler gone wrong?

At Wish skin clinic Jeremy Isaac performs the correction treatments on clients who may have had fillers performed by other practitioners and are unhappy with their results.  Sometimes, fillers can have an unwanted effect in certain areas and we always advise that people check that their practitioner is suitably experienced to carry out the procedure.

Dermal fillers are made of synthesised hyaluronic acid, which is supported in the collagen skin matrix.  It is slowly absorbed over time, but if something untoward occurs, or the filler substance has shifted within the skin, it may be preferable to hasten the degradation process and dissolve the filler in order to restore the skin to its previous state

How does it work?
We use hyaluronidase to reverse and enzymatically cleave the bonds between the filler molecules and this allows the filler to disperse and almost dissolve away.  The procedure can hasten the dispersion of filler in certain areas e.g. under the eyes by many months.
Filler reversal is an advanced procedure in which an specially formulated enzyme is used to selectively and precisely dissolve undesirable HA fillers. The enzyme is injected in the same way as any other injectable, and begins working in approximately 48 hours.
Filler reversal is only possible for HA fillers like Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero, Perlane, and Prevelle. It is not effective on Radiesse, Artefill, Silicone, or any other non-HA fillers.
